Objective: Explore the feasibility of a low-cost cardiac monitoring prototype, using a MAX30100 sensor and an ESP32 microcontroller. This demand for affordable monitoring solutions is directly related to population aging and, consequently, the increase in cardiovascular diseases. In this scenario, photoplethysmography (PPG) emerges as a promising, economical and non-invasive technique for measuring heart rate, offering an alternative to electrocardiogram (ECG) in everyday scenarios. In Brazil, the potential of PPG is still underutilized. Method: Capture and process heart rate data, transmit via Wi-Fi for real-time viewing in web browsers and comparison with commercial devices. Results: Indicate that the prototype is functional and promising, although it requires future improvements. Conclusion: The approach adopted in this article aligns with global digital health strategies, providing an accessible tool for cardiac monitoring.
