Chatbots for reducing vaccine hesitation: systematic literature review

OBJECTIVE: The study aims to describe how chatbots have been used as a health education strategy to reduce vaccine hesitancy. METHOD: This is a systematic review of the ACM, IEEE, Scielo, Periódico Capes, VHL, PUBMED databases in the last 5 years with the descriptors: Immunization or vaccination, vaccine hesitancy and health education, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. RESULTS: The initial search identified 2,011 results. In the title and abstract analysis phase, 18 studies remained. Finally, only 6 articles were included. Entirely, the articles sought to evaluate the significant change in individuals after their experience using the chatbot. CONCLUSION: Chatbots are a valuable tool that not only provides reliable information, but also creates a supportive environment for users, contributing to the promotion of public health, especially in the context of vaccination
