OncoRadar: technological solution for mouth cancer screening

Objective: To describe the development of a technological solution for the screening of oral cancer. Methods: This research on technological development and innovation was conducted following the User-Centered Design (UCD) method in four stages, namely: I) Observation; II) Ideation; III) Prototyping; and IV) Testing. Results: The tool, named OncoRadar, was developed to enable the screening of oral cancer by Community Health Agents (CHAs) during home visits. When a patient presents oral complaints during a visit, the CHA notifies the case in OncoRadar, sending a video and some patient information. A consultant specialist in Oral Diagnosis remotely analyzes the case and provides a response. Conclusion: The presented tool is a promising proposal that has the potential to contribute to the healthcare continuum for early diagnosis of oral cancer.
