Introduction: The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gaining ground in clinical dentistry. ChatGPT is an example of a tool that uses AI to formulate responses that can assist in decisions at the moment of care services. Objective: This is a scoping review of the literature on the use of ChatGPT in dentistry. Method: This was a scoping review based on the methodological framework recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) for scoping reviews, Reviewers Manual 2019 and PRISMA-ScR. EndNote and Rayyan were used to select the studies. Results: 35 studies were found, of which, after the selection stages, 8 remained to be included in the review process. Conclusion: ChatGPT can be used as an auxiliary tool for dentists, but its use must be controlled and the clinical and scientific knowledge of the professional in charge must always be respected.
