Objective: To develop a comprehensive system for continuous monitoring of vital and environmental signs for individualized medical follow-up through the Internet of Medical Things. Method: A smart wristband was created to estimate and transmit heart rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, ambient temperature, and relative humidity over the Internet. The wristband casing was custom-made to securely and comfortably house all electronic circuits. A graphical interface was developed to display the health information of monitored individuals received via the Internet. Results: The signals captured and transmitted by the wristband were coherently presented in the developed graphical interface. Experiments showed changes in some vital signs due to limitations of the wristband casing prototype. Conclusion: The proposed system proved to be fully functional and has the potential to contribute to the advancement of digital health and the improvement of quality of life.
