Preprints and research data

Preprints

The journal accepts manuscripts already posted on a preprint server (for example SciELO Preprints, medRxiv, arXiv or OSF Preprints). The preprint must be reported to the editors in the submission comments, with its address. Review remains double-blind: preprint details are not passed on to reviewers.

After publication, authors should update the preprint record with the DOI of the published article.

Data availability

The journal encourages deposit of data, code and research materials in open repositories, within ethical and legal limits, especially the protection of patients' personal data. Upon acceptance, authors submit a data availability statement, published with the article, stating where the data are or why they cannot be shared.

Chart data

With the final version, authors send the data behind the charts in CSV or Excel, already aggregated as shown in the results. These data are used to redraw the figures in the journal's visual style.

Suggested repositories

Supplementary files sent to the journal must not contain identifiable personal data.
